A Magpie and a Moose!

Bill Bull Moose with a Magpie hitching a ride

It was a beautiful afternoon. The Sun was shining, the Tetons were in the background and you really couldn’t ask for a better day. As I was driving by I was gazing upon the massive bulls playing in the sagebrush while looking for something to eat.

Today was not like any other day, as they had visitors. It was crazy how much the birds were taunting these moose, but the moose did not want anything to do with these crazy birds!

I had to pull over to capture the moment. They were about two miles off so I did the best I could to get the sharpest shot in. I literally only had about 3 to 5 seconds to get this remarkable photograph of a magpie actually sitting on a moose’s back.

It was like seeing a rhino with a bird on his back… only it was a moose!

It was a great day!

Big Bull Moose Taking A Glance at Yours Truly

Big Bull Moose Turning Around And Looking At Me

I happen to be driving through one of my favorite spots in the Grand Tetons. I was looking for the famous big bull moose family that I’ve been keeping an eye on over the past 3 months.

Today these guys just happened to be on the road and moose enthusiast where everywhere. Even the park rangers were around to make sure that none of the moose would get hit or lick any of the cars.

Moose and other animals are drawn to the salt that is on our cars. They will try to lick it, but there’s a lot of contamination involved. You can’t allow these animals to lick your cars! Up here in Yellowstone country, if you let them lick it- you get a ticket… True Story!

I happened to have my macro lens that day so I decided to use it since they were up close and personal. I got out of my car and got in as close as I could to these animals without invading their privacy.

As I was walking up to this guy he turned around to see who was walking up on him. Of course it happened to be me, yours truly.

When you get up close and personal with one of these big bulls during rut season your adrenaline will start to rush as if you’re getting ready to hit the ground running!

It’s absolutely amazing and stunning at the same time. I enjoy every second of it and I could never do anything else with my life.

I hope you enjoy these photos.

A Beautiful Sky, Lovely Moose and Happy New Years Eve!

Big Bull Moose Beautiful Blue Sky and Sage Brush

I decided that I wanted to spend my New Year’s Eve in the Grand Tetons amongst the animals and my wife. I was actually surprised by how many people were actually on this same path.

I literally drove down a road that would require a four-wheel drive. Why? I noticed a whole bunch of cars at the end of this road.

So I decided to take this route and when I finally entered into the domain of these animals, the moose. I was awestruck by the beautiful backdrop of the sky, the clouds and the Sun against the Mountainside.

Even the teenagers we’re going at it as if they were in the rut showing off on the road. I was literally surrounded by a family of moose having a excellent time enjoying their New Year’s Eve!

This was one of the most amazing New Year Eve’s I’ve experienced.

Happy New Year to you all, thank you for all your support and keep coming back!

Bald Eagle taking off in the Grand Tetons

Eagle Taking Off Yellowstone Park

So here’s a funny story for you. We just happen to be driving around the Grand Tetons looking for something to photograph. It was the day of the elk hunt where the hunters we’re able to shoot on the elk that are in the National Elk Refuge.

What I noticed was there were a lot of birds around. Especially eagles! I remember saying to my wife that I wouldn’t be a professional photographer until I caught an eagle in mid-flight.

These are very smart creatures these creatures will keep an eye on you and as you get closer to them they will take off. This specific guy was sitting on a pole, I only had my macro lens on me which made it much harder because I had to get up close and personal with the eagle.

I walked up to the eagle I kept the camera up close to my face while inching closer and closer. As I moved the camera up to my eye to start taking more photographs this Eagle took off into the air.

I guess this means I’m a professional photographer now?

Bighorn Sheep Eating and Hiding within The Brush

I was out photographing the bighorn sheep as they were in the rut. While doing so I happened to find this guy trying to hide behind the brush.

I had to get a snapshot of him because I felt like it was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Plus, I feel like this would make a great ad.
